MEET OUR FOUNDERS

Rachel Kim

Founder & President

I am currently a student at the Academy for Engineering and Design Technology at Bergen County Academies. Amid my busy schedule, I founded CaffiTeen Inc. based on my personal experiences with caffeine dependence.

These days, caffeine consumption—whether through coffee or energy drinks—has become quite common among high school students like my friends and me. However, very few people truly understand the risks of excessive caffeine intake. Through CaffiTeen, I aim to show that completely cutting out caffeine is not the only solution. Instead, I want to encourage people to start by reducing their caffeine consumption, leading to better time management and healthier lifestyle habits.

Beyond CaffiTeen, I am deeply passionate about environmental engineering and policy. I enjoy paying attention to issues that are often overlooked, which is what originally inspired me to start CaffiTeen. I believe that real solutions can only be achieved when we work together toward a common goal.

Eunseo Whaong

Founder & President

I attend the Academy for Technology and Computer Science at Bergen County Academies, and I founded CaffiTeen, Inc. to help teenagers build healthier relationships with caffeine through education, data visualization, and community engagement.

I was inspired to start CaffiTeen after realizing how common caffeine use has become among teens, yet how little awareness exists about its impact on sleep, focus, and mental health. Through CaffiTeen’s interactive web app and workshops, I aim to make caffeine education both scientific and approachable.

Outside of CaffiTeen, I’ve led AI and neuroscience research on early autism diagnosis and model fairness, developed educational apps, and founded a sustainable woodworking business. I believe science should not stay in labs — it should empower people to make mindful choices in everyday life.

 MEET OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM

Peyton Porter

Director of Health Education

As the Director of Health Education at CaffiTeen, I create engaging ways to teach teens about how caffeine affects sleep, focus, and mental health. I design educational materials, lead wellness workshops, and work with schools to promote healthier daily habits.

I’m currently a Biomedical Science student at Horizon High School and active in the Pre-Med Club and volunteer work at Orlando Health. Through CaffiTeen, I hope to make science easy to understand and meaningful for other students my age.

Soo Ah Shin

Secretary / Administrative Lead

As the Secretary and Administrative Lead at CaffiTeenYouth, I organize meetings, manage communication, and help our projects run smoothly. At school, I serve as the president of the English Club, where I enjoy leading discussions about literature and writing. I also love skiing—it helps me recharge and stay active. Seeing many of my friends depend on caffeine to stay focused inspired me to promote healthier, more mindful habits. I plan to study English Literature in college and continue using communication to create positive change.

Doyeon Kim

Director of Advocacy & Awareness

I’m a second-year student at Howon High School who’s passionate about understanding social issues and creating change. I believe excessive caffeine use among teens isn’t just a personal habit, but a social issue shaped by our environment. Through conversations with friends, I realized that accurate information can shift how people think and act. I hope to keep raising awareness and inspiring healthier, more mindful choices among teens.

Ye suel Shin

Member Relations Coordinator

Hi! I’m the Member Relations Coordinator at CaffiTeenYouth.
I enjoy building a welcoming space where everyone feels valued and connected. At school, I’m part of the Literature Club, where I explore stories that reflect empathy and human experiences. Seeing many of my friends depend on caffeine made me realize the need to promote balance and healthier habits. Through CaffiTeenYouth, I hope to inspire teens to care for both their minds and bodies.

As a Junior Ambassador at CaffiTeen, I help promote awareness about caffeine and healthy lifestyle habits among teens. I assist with community events, share creative ideas for outreach, and support projects that encourage balance and wellness. I’m a middle school student at Water Spring with a strong interest in science, technology, and teamwork. Through the STEM and Digital Design programs and my involvement in the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), I’m learning how small actions can make a meaningful difference in my community.
